Is it time for a fresh start?

Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer.

And that means time for a fresh start.

Some of yall might remember back in 2022 when we remodeled our kitchen (and the nightmare that turned into.) It affected us so much that we just felt we couldn’t start another project.

Living in your home during a remodel is exhausting, to say the least.

Our original plan was to remodel the kitchen first, with the kids/guest bathroom next and then our master bedroom/bathroom.

As life happens, our plan is a little behind schedule…like a year behind.

But now we’re getting ready to do the kids/guest bathroom. Since there aren’t kids and guests living with us right now, gutting this one won’t put anyone out (and we can literally close the door on the remodel mess.) Then, when we do our bathroom, we’ll have a nice new bathroom to use until our even nicer and newer bath is ready. At least it makes sense to us.

As exciting as it is, it’s also very exhausting. If you’ve ever remodeled, you understand what I mean.

Picking a color we both agree on is hard. So, we’re thinking of a nice neutral color (cause if I asked for another purple room, I might be booted out.)

Then it's off to the flooring and tile store, the paint store, the countertop store, the plumbing fixtures store, and finally the lighting store. *Breathe Sandy, breathe*

This is where a fresh start feels great (and freeing) but, geesh, it’s a lot of work.

What’s scary, and exciting at the same time, is having a vision and knowing there is no guarantee it will turn out as planned.

And of course…it could turn out way better! Or, dare I say, it could be completely NOT what we envisioned.

This is when we have to go with the flow and trust the people we hire.

That’s the thing with fresh starts…

Whether you’re redoing your bathroom, making a big move, starting (or ending) a business, or changing up your dinner choices for your family, It’s important to stay focused and do a little each day toward your goal (this will help keep the overwhelm from creeping in.)

You may need all the strength you can muster to stay positive.

I’m really nervous after the last remodel (oh the kitchen nightmare) but because I have a little more remodeling experience I know this time will go smoother, at least that’s my plan.

Fresh starts, whether a bathroom remodel or a life challenge, require you to have a plan, stay focused, stay strong, and hold onto a positive attitude because you WILL see the end results.
